In 2018, the regular Nerd Lunch crew began looking for ways to ease off producing weekly episodes. To help with that, Michael pitched the idea of a series that would come out anytime there was a fifth Tuesday in a month. The idea is that he would tap previous guests (dubbed the Fourth Chair Army on the podcast) to engage in Nerd Lunch-like topics, but without any of the main three hosts having to be involved. Essentially giving them that week off from any podcast duties.
To kick off, Michael asked Liz Twachtman, Mike Westfall, and Evan Hanson to each introduce another panelist to something they’d never tried before and see if they were convinced about The Americans, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Attack the Block, and Meet the Robinsons.
